The Writer
Beatriz Brenes’ work has been published by Barrelhouse and Michigan Quarterly Review and is forthcoming in IronHorse Magazine Spring 2026.
Her short story "How to Make Tamales After Lucía" was a semi-finalist for the 2023 Sewanee Review Fiction Contest. She's attended the Tin House Summer and Winter Workshop, Anaphora Arts, Macondo Writers Workshop and was a semi-finalist for the Key West Literary Seminar Emerging Writer Award.
She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Pacific University and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Cincinnati.
